Kent People Directory Choices
Kent people directories do not form one master list. Each answers a different kind of question. Public agencies list work contacts. Schools and colleges identify staff by role or unit. County property tools connect parcels with taxpayer or owner names. Printed directories, annuals, newspapers, marriage files, and cemetery indexes preserve older associations that a current contact list cannot show.
| Directory | People or names included | Keeper | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kent city contacts | Departments, services, and selected staff | City of Kent | Free web list and individual pages |
| King County directory | County employees, groups, and services | King County | Free first-name or last-name search |
| Kent School District staff | District staff, titles, and departments | Kent School District | Name filter and department choices |
| Green River directory | College employees and campus units | Green River College | Name, teaching unit, or administrative unit |
| Parcel and deed records | Taxpayers, owners, grantors, and grantees | King County | Parcel report or recorded-name index |
| Historic Kent volumes | Past residents and businesses | Washington State Library | On-site consultation |
| Annuals and burial indexes | Students, faculty, and people interred locally | Kent Historical Museum and State Archives | Assisted research or free name search |
Start with the listing closest to the person's known role. A county employee belongs in the county tool, while an educator may appear in the district or college directory. For a former resident, move toward dated sources. The year attached to a volume or index matters as much as the name.
Kent School Staff Directory
The official Kent School District directory was inspected with 243 entries on 13 pages. It is free and needs no account. A live name box narrows staff cards, while a department selector covers 37 units, from Accountability and Strategy to Transportation. Cards can show a full name, title, department, work phone, email, image, and an optional class link. Blank fields do occur.
| Search control | Input | Useful detail |
|---|---|---|
| Search | Staff name | Filters the visible directory entries |
| Select Departments | One or more units | Includes teaching, finance, safety, family support, technology, and operations groups |
| Pagination | Numbered pages | Previous and next controls span the full result set |
The Kent School District staff directory shows the search and department controls used for a focused query.
The captured screen confirms that the district provides both a name route and a department route, which helps when a spelling is uncertain but the staff role is known.
Kent Campus College Directory
Green River College operates a Kent satellite campus at Kent Station. Its campus directory accepts an employee name or a teaching department. A separate administrative list includes Kent Campus, so the location itself can narrow results. The listing is public and does not require a login. Results identify employees and their work-contact information, though the research did not establish a start year, export feature, or fixed result limit.
The Green River College staff directory displays its employee and department search paths.
The Kent Campus filter separates local staff from employees assigned to Auburn, Enumclaw, and other college units. No verified public alumni-name directory was found, so former students are better traced through annuals, news, and historical collections.
Kent Government Contact Directories
Government listings differ by level. Kent's city contact page is mainly a service and department list, not a complete employee-name database. It gives department phone and email routes, while individual leadership or staff pages supply selected names. If a person is absent, contact the relevant unit rather than treating the gap as proof that the person has no city role.
The King County employee directory is broader. It accepts optional first and last names and can search employees, groups, or services. Exact Phrase is the default. Searches are case-insensitive but spelling-sensitive, and three starting letters can broaden a query. A result may include the employee's name, title, group, email, phone or fax, supervisor, work address, and a group link.
| Name | Full employee name when listed |
|---|---|
| Role | Title and agency group |
| Contact | Work email, phone, and sometimes fax |
| Organization | Supervisor, office address, and group link when available |
The King County directory shows its employee, agency, and service lookup interface.
This county search is often the right government directory for Kent because many local records and services are administered by King County rather than City Hall.
Kent State Directory Gap
Washington no longer offers its former public all-employee directory. WaTech says Dial was decommissioned because it relied on infrastructure that posed cyber risk. The Employee Authentication Directory that followed is an internal state service, not a public name lookup. That distinction prevents a common dead end: a sign-in screen for state staff is not evidence of a public directory hidden behind registration.
The official state employee directory notice documents the retired service.
For a state contact, use the agency's own public staff or leadership pages. Washington also publishes a narrower State Records Officer Directory, but it lists designated records contacts rather than the full workforce.
Kent Public Record Directories
Some records act like directories because they organize names around a legal event. King County's Landmark index searches grantors and grantees in recorded documents from 1976 forward. A grantor transfers an interest; a grantee receives it. The Digital Archives marriage collection pairs two names and adds a year range and Soundex, a tool that finds similar-sounding spellings. Its King County series contains 1,610,882 records from 1855 through 2017.
These are event indexes, not lists of every Kent resident. A recorded name can connect a person with a deed, lien, marriage, or other filing. It does not prove a current address. General rules for copies, custodians, and requests belong with Kent public records access, while directory research stays focused on names and fields.
Kent Property Directory Limits
King County Parcel Viewer and eReal Property display a taxpayer or owner in a parcel report, but neither is a browse-by-owner people directory. Parcel Viewer starts with an address, ten-digit parcel number, or condominium name. eReal Property also expects the parcel or tax account. For a name-first ownership trail, Landmark is the practical starting point; the parcel tools then confirm the legal description, jurisdiction, and property details.
- Parcel
- A numbered tract used by the assessor and mapping systems.
- Situs address
- The physical property address, which may differ from the taxpayer's mailing address.
- Grantor and grantee
- The party transferring an interest and the party receiving it.
- Occupant
- A person who lived at an address, not necessarily its owner or taxpayer.
Ownership and residence are not the same fact. Historical occupants may require a printed city directory, annual, census, newspaper, or other dated source. Panther Lake's 2010 annexation also matters: older address-based material may have been created by King County even when the current address is within Kent.
Kent Business Name Directories
Official Washington tools can connect a person with a trade, credential, or business filing. The Secretary of State business search may show an entity's legal name, UBI, status, registered agent, principal office, governing people, and filing history. Licensing searches cover regulated occupations and businesses by such fields as name, license number, type, or location. Results should be read as evidence of a listed role or credential, not as a full residential profile.
The Kent Chamber's current directory represents more than 400 member businesses. It can identify organization contacts, but membership is voluntary and does not cover every firm in Kent. Rotary bulletins, student recognitions, and memorial notices offer selected community names, not a complete member roster. No comprehensive public Kent union, congregation, neighborhood-resident, or association roster was verified.
Historical Kent Directory Eras
Washington State Library holds Kent city directories for 1968 through 1970 and 1972 through 1975. The Seattle Suburban South title covers 1976 through 1983, plus 1985, 1987, and 1991. These are known library holdings, not proof of the first or last year published. No official source confirmed which volumes contain reverse sections that start with an address rather than a name.
| Period | Kent name source | Access |
|---|---|---|
| 1911 onward | Kent high-school annuals at the museum | Assisted research; some circulation |
| 1968-1975, with 1971 absent | Kent city directory holdings | Washington State Library on site |
| 1976-1991, with listed gaps | Seattle Suburban South holdings | Washington State Library on site |
| Historic and current news | Kent newspaper and obituary sources | Kent Library microfilm and web search |
Old does not mean online. The State Library volumes require an on-site visit, while Kent Library supplies a microfilm reader and historical Kent newspapers. The exact newspaper and telephone-book year runs were not published in the reviewed sources. A request should include the name, likely year, and any known school, street, business, or relative.
Kent Cemetery Name Directories
Kent Historical Museum extends local directory research with high-school annuals from 1911, newspapers, photographs, maps, public and personal papers, and a Japanese heritage collection. Staff provide research help during public hours. A yearbook name can lead to a school group or class, then to newspaper microfilm and later family notices.
Washington Digital Archives adds four Kent-area cemetery collections. Hillcrest Burial Park alone indexes 15,361 people with marked deaths from 1880 through 2010. Saar's unmarked-grave index lists 89 people whose deaths span 1877 through 1936. Suise Creek has 374 legible markers, and Saint Patrick contains 760 records. Each has limits: some stones are illegible, some graves lack markers, and a transcript can preserve only what researchers could read.
The Hillcrest Burial Park name index demonstrates the archive's searchable cemetery format.
The captured index supports a name and Soundex search, which is useful for spelling variants, Cyrillic inscriptions, and hard-to-read markers noted by the project.
Note: Museum annuals and cemetery directories can bridge a former classmate's school name to later notices without claiming a present address.
